A Wedding Full of Colour, Culture & Connection

When Ammara’s mum first reached out about finding a wedding photographer in Scotland, I had no idea how unforgettable this celebration would be. Ammara, of Pakistani heritage, and Stephen, who is Scottish, planned a beautiful multicultural wedding that blended tradition, colour, and love over two unforgettable days.

Day One – The Nikah Ceremony in Edinburgh

Held in the heart of Edinburgh, the Nikah ceremony was full of energy and tradition. Stephen arrived wearing traditional Pakistani attire, surrounded by joyful family and friends. Ammara’s siblings stole the show with choreographed dances, while the women in her family led traditional drumming and singing. As a Scotland wedding photographer, moments like these are pure gold—vivid, cultural, and filled with story.

Day Two – Wedding Reception at Macdonald Houstoun House, Broxburn

The reception took place at Macdonald Houstoun House, a stunning wedding venue in Broxburn, West Lothian. I arrived early to photograph Ammara getting ready in her traditional outfit. After a sweet first look with Stephen, we captured romantic portraits across the picturesque estate.

The reception was high-energy from start to finish. Family portraits, more incredible dance performances, and heartfelt speeches filled the day.

As the night drew to a close, Ammara had her farewell moment, an emotional rukhsati (bride’s departure) in a classic vintage car. It was the perfect ending to a truly beautiful day.

Weddings like Ammara and Stephen’s remind me why I love what I do. The blend of cultures, the joyful chaos, the deep family bonds, it was all there. They absolutely loved their photos, and I feel so honoured to have been a part of their celebration.

If you’re planning a multicultural or fusion wedding in Scotland, I’d be honoured to capture your story.
