I met them for the first time on their wedding day, but after months of emails back and forth, it felt like greeting old friends. Catherine and Ewan made the journey all the way from England to tie the knot in beautiful Scotland, choosing the charming Boclair House in Bearsden as their venue. It was my first time shooting at Boclair House, so I was beyond excited to see how it would all come together.
A funny moment in our planning stands out—Catherine messaged me asking if it would be okay to bring a stool to stand on during the ceremony. At first, I was puzzled. But when I met them in person, I saw what she meant. Ewan is quite tall, and Catherine, well, not so much. Her sense of humor and creativity made the moment even more special.
On the wedding day, Catherine and Ewan kept things simple, opting not to have “getting ready” photos. Instead, I arrived to capture Catherine slipping into her dress with the help of her bridesmaids and her lovely mum—who, by the way, was an absolute star throughout the day!
From there, it was all systems go. The venue looked stunning, and I took some time to capture its beauty before diving into photos of their guests arriving. And what a guest list! Their friends and family were some of the warmest, most amazing people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.
The ceremony itself was intimate and heartfelt. Afterward, we took group photos, and then it was time for portraits. Boclair House gave us so many gorgeous spots to work with—indoors and outdoors—and Catherine and Ewan were a dream to photograph. Their relaxed, easygoing vibe made every moment feel natural and fun.
