Some weddings are just unforgettable, and Sam and Emma’s big day was one of those. From the moment they slid into my DMs on Instagram, I knew this would be special. And not just anywhere—the venue was The Engine Works, a place I’d been dreaming of shooting at for ages. You can imagine my excitement!
We first met in person for their pre-wedding photoshoot in Culross, and what a day that was. The weather was perfect, and they were game for anything, even indulging one of my quirky ideas. I had them record a mini “vow” session where they promised fun, silly things to each other—“I promise to cook for you,” “I promise not to snore,” things like that. It was hilarious and heartwarming all at once, and the video turned out beautifully.
Then came the wedding day, and wow, what a day! Stormy winds couldn’t dampen the joy and love in the air. Though they preferred to keep their “getting ready” moments private, I captured some gorgeous shots at the venue. The day started on a high note as I met their incredible family and friends, who welcomed me like one of their own.
The ceremony was magical. I had recommended their humanist officiant, who delivered the most touching service, and their harpist added an extra layer of beauty with her enchanting music. Everything came together perfectly, from the details to the vibes. And let me tell you, working with such talented vendors made my job a dream.
But life has its bittersweet moments. The day after their wedding, I learned that Sam’s dad had passed away in their sleep. The news was a shock, and my heart ached for them.
